Projects

I tend to build things because I need them, because I am curious about how something works, or because an existing solution annoys me enough to make my own.

The projects collected here range from long-running websites and preservation projects to small utilities, experiments and infrastructure-related tools. Some are polished, some are permanently evolving, and some started as “this should only take an evening” — which is usually a dangerous sentence.

I prefer practical solutions over fashionable ones. I will happily use old technology if it still does the job, newer technology when it genuinely improves something, and a mixture of both when that makes the most sense. The common thread is that I like understanding what I am running, keeping control of it, and gradually improving things rather than rebuilding them merely because the technology landscape changed.
